From the Acting Principal
Spring has sprung and the countdown is on to the end of term 3. We have just over 3 1/2 weeks left. It feels like the term is rushing by and it will not be long before we say goodbye to our big Year 6 students.
By now everyone should have received an email informing you all of the appointment of our new principal Cassey Prentice. Thank you to the Board of Trustees for all their hard work. It was not an easy process. Cassey will be starting at the beginning of Term 4 and will work with Mrs Kemball and the staff to learn all about Ridgeview. She will take the term to observe, learn the ropes and meet the wonderful children and community. With our new principal starting, this means my role of acting principal will finish at the end of this term.
I have enjoyed my time in this role but I am happy to be returning back to Wāhi Pakari full time with my awesome kids.
Just a few reminders for the end of Term 3 and Term 4 regarding staffing.
Mrs Gibbons will be away the last week of Term 3 and Wāhi Pitau will have relievers and Daniel.
In Term 4, Mrs Hawkins will not be in Koru. She will be back in week 8. Daniel will be Koru's teacher over that time.

Water Main Replacement
Starting on Monday 9 September there will be construction work happening at the school. Areas around the school will be fenced off for where the work is taking place. The work should take about 3 weeks to do weather depending. Our biggest problem will be the noise from all the construction and concrete work. We will be adaptable and move the classes around if necessary but we can only do our best.
We do ask that anyone who comes up to school after hours to stay away from all the construction areas for safety reasons. It is not yet decided but we may lock the gates over the weekends while work is being done.
While all the construction is going to be happening in the carpark and around school, Wāhi Pakari will also be having the carpet replaced in their class for two days.
All the children will be informed and reminded of what is happening.
Mud Run
24 students went to the Tough Guy and Gal race at Kumeu showgrounds on Tuesday 6 August. Even though the weather was unpredictable, it didn't stop the kids from having lots of fun in the mud and giving it a good go.
Rippa Rugby
Mrs Gibbons and Daniel took 30 kids (3 teams) to Rippa rugby on Thursday 8 August at Windsor Park. We had two Year 5 & 6 teams and 1 Year 3 & 4 team. All teams were outstanding Ridgeview REPs. They never gave up and worked well together. Even when playing against teams that weren't showing sportsmanship, the Ridgeview teams never let this stop them from doing their best. Ka Pai teams!
Student Led Conferences
Thank you to everyone who attended the Student Led Conferences on Thursday 15 August. We had a fantastic turnout with only a couple of families unable to attend. What we enjoyed seeing was all the smiles on parent's/whanau's faces when they were leaving. The children all confidently talk about their learning to their whanau.
Mufti Day - Daffodil Day
We held a mufti day on Wednesday 28 August in support of Daffodil Day which was on Friday 30 August. We raised $100.40 for the Cancer Society. We love that our children got behind a good cause and supported something that is close to our little school's heart. Thank you to everyone who supported and contributed on that day.
Thank You
I would like to once again say thank you to all the parents and whanau who transported children to and from the Mud Run and Rippa. We can't attend these events without your support.
Thank you to the same parents who stayed and supported, cheered, coached and helped supervise the children at the two events. We really appreciate the help and making these days run smoothly.
Thank you to those families who have brought in boxes and stuff for our art. We do have enough for now but we are very grateful for the support. The stuff comes in handy when we get super creative.
