Message from the Principal

Dear Families,

It is BOOK WEEK! Thank you to Laura Terry for sharing her time, enthusiasm, and passion for reading.  This week is a highlight on the school calendar and brings much joy and laughter.  Of course, the pinnacle is tomorrow's parade at 9:15 am.  We look forward to seeing all things 'Magical' parading around the quadrangle.  Parents are most welcome to come and join in the fun.

CES School Engagement Survey

Many of you received a survey link via email on Monday. This School engagement survey link has been sent to 80 randomly selected families to gather data about our school community, leadership, and learning. Our Year 4, 5, and 6 students and all staff will also participate in the survey over the coming weeks.   If you received an email with the survey link, please take the time to complete it, as this information is so valuable in setting the future direction of our school community.

The Oval

We are currently working through a rejuvenation process of the school oval. Each holiday, we have engaged a company to treat the grass. The first step was removing the weeds, which had led to many bald, muddy spots.  You may have heard that the students are not playing on the oval before school.  I know this has interrupted a lot of intense soccer games, but it has allowed the oval to dry before the children start playing at Break 1 and has saved shoes and carpet from the mud.  With spring approaching, we should see lots of new growth. Fingers crossed, we will have a lush, green, weed-free space in February.

Mobile Phones / Smart Watches

Please refer to our Mobile Phone and Smart Watch policy. These devices are not to be used at school. If your child needs a device for safe passage to and from school, it must stay in the child's bag. This includes smartwatches, as they are a distraction to learning for the student and others. St Therese's takes no responsibility for the device if it is lost or damaged; the responsibility lies with the family.

Family Literacy Activities

This week's winners are the Rajapaksha and Hunter families from Grade 1 for their awesome Alphabet Stories.

Thank you for all our entries.  It is amazing to see so many families engaging in our learning activities.    Our winning families received a board game each.

Our challenge for the next fortnight is .........

Please drop your entries in the Office when they are completed.

Grow in the Likeness of God Award

Each fortnight, I will award a member from our community this award based on our theme for 2024:

Growing in the Likeness of God

This week's recipient is Bernard.

Bernard came to our school last year.  He is a polite, friendly, and helpful member of our school community. Bernard always does his best to follow school rules, greets teachers with a smile, uses their names, and makes eye contact.   Thank you for being a valuable member of the St Therese's School community.
