Diving into Marine Adaptations!

This term, 5/6G has been exploring the fascinating world of marine environments and the incredible adaptations animals develop to thrive in these unique habitats. We began our journey by watching the captivating documentary My Octopus Teacher, where we learned about the rich ecosystem of the kelp forest and the amazing adaptations of the octopus.

Our exploration didn't stop there! We dove into the novel Blueback by Tim Winton, which has given us a deeper understanding of the delicate balance within marine ecosystems and how humans can harm it. Through this story, we’ve discussed the importance of preserving these environments and the relationships between the creatures that inhabit them.

One of the highlights of our learning was the creative challenge of designing our own marine animals. Students put their knowledge of physical and behavioural adaptations to the test by imagining creatures uniquely suited to survive in their chosen habitats. It was incredible to see the creativity and scientific thinking in action as they brought these marine animals to life.

We're proud of the curiosity and engagement students have shown throughout this unit, and we look forward to continuing our exploration of the natural world!
