Prayer for the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit
Sunday's celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation, conferred by Bishop Tony Ireland, is a key celebration of our faith as a school and the parish of Christ Our Holy Redeemer. For our students it is the final Sacrament of Initiation. Most have no memory of their Baptism and for this group there were still overtones of COVID protocols when they celebrated receiving the Eucharist for the first time. We hope and pray that the receiving of this sacrament is a wonderful celebration of faith, family and community.
You may like to pause and pray for our Confirmation Candidate sand their families.
O Lord Jesus Christ, Who, before ascending into heaven,
did promise to send the Holy Spirit
to finish Your work in the souls
of Your Apostles and Disciples,
dare to grant the same Holy Spirit to me,
that He may perfect in my soul the work of Your grace and Your love.
Grant me the Spirit of Wisdom,
that I may despise the perishable things of this world
and aspire only after the things that are eternal,
the Spirit of Understanding,
to enlighten my mind with the light of Your truth,
the Spirit of Right Judgment, (Counsel)
that I may ever choose the surest way of pleasing God and gaining Heaven,
the Spirit of Fortitude,
that I may bear my cross with You,
and that I may overcome with courage all the obstacles that oppose my salvation,
the Spirit of Knowledge,
that I may know God and know myself
and grow more perfect in the science of the Saints,
the Spirit of Piety,
that I may find peace and fulfillment in the service of God
while serving others,
the Spirit of Wonder and Awe, (Fear of the Lord)
that I may be filled with a loving reverence towards God,
and may dread in any way to displease Him.
Teach me, dear Lord,
to be your faithful disciple
and animate me in all things with Your Spirit.
Amen.
