Principal's Update
Another busy term has come to an end. A term full of events, activities and learnings. As Acting Principal, it has been an absolute privilege to have been in this role for the past 8 weeks. It has allowed me to gain a better understanding of the demands placed daily on a school of 1000 students. I would like to thank the students, staff and the community for their support over the course of the term.
The weather events of the past few weeks have certainly been testing for many families in our community. Our two days of no power was a learning curve for the college and the Department, and thankyou to families for their understanding during these difficult times. Communication to our families is of utmost importance, and our aim was to keep our families informed to the best of our abilities in an ever-changing situation.
Our VCE-VM Fete was held last week, and it was great to see so many members of our community enjoy the event. Well done to our VCE-VM students and teachers for putting this event together.
Our Year 12’s are getting close to the end of their secondary schooling. With only a few weeks in Term 4 before exams, I urge our students to make the most of the time they have available. Practice exams will be held in the first week of the school holidays, allowing students to identify strengths and areas to work on in their course content to direct their future revision. I encourage Year 12 students to make the most of the two week break in order to set themselves up for the upcoming exams.
I would like to remind our students and parents about the importance of regular attendance. One day absent a fortnight equates to roughly 4 weeks of school missed across a year. 4 weeks missed of learning and social interactions. There is a strong correlation between high attendance and academic success, and I urge students to ensure that they attend school as much as possible. With progression to a new year level not far away, ensuring we have a regular high attendance gives students the best opportunity to cope with the increased demands of our curriculum.
I wish all our students, staff and families all the best for the holidays. I hope you are able to take a break, refresh and recharge for Term 4. Thankyou again for all your support.
