Grade 1 & 2

Term 3 - Week 6

We are all excited to welcome back Mrs. Friend last week from her European holiday. We hope she had the best time but we are so happy to have her back. Thank you to the wonderful teachers who came in to help continue the great learning in our 1/2 Learning Community.

We have shown some great learning over the last few weeks with addition, subtraction and capacity in Numeracy, narrative writing and compound words in Literacy and wheat - farming to our plates and what animals need to survive, in Inquiry.

Our students are currently reading the story called ‘Chooks in Dinner Suits’, written by Diane Jackson Hill, which is the true story of some very special dogs saving the penguin population in Warrnambool. If you haven’t watched ‘Oddball’ before, it’s a wonderful retelling of this great story.

Last week the students went to the Townhall to watch ‘Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ performed by the Horsham College students. We thoroughly enjoyed the performance and have lots of wonderful memories of this version of the story.

We have also had Silly Sock Day and it was amazing to see so many silly socks that are out there. It was certainly fun to see.

Wishing you all a lovely long weekend.

Claire Burke, Heather Bush, Anne Newton & Michelle Friend.
