Before, After and Holiday Care @ St Mary's

Hello Families,

We have got so much to catch you all up on! The last month has played out as follows:

Holiday Program – “Art Attack”

WOW! What an amazing Holiday Program. Over the course of the two weeks the children had so much fun immersing themselves with many different Art Mediums. They got to make bath bombs, marble dipped pencil cases and even their very own marble dipped paper. On a broader scale, during our in-house days the students engaged in many activities that fostered the development of new friendships. It was amazing to see all of the children come together to achieve common goals, this was particularly evident in our scavenger hunt. Finally, we cannot thank the children enough for showing such a high level of respect when we set off on our excursions. The children had so much fun watching Kung Fu Panda and thoroughly enjoyed receiving their very own Panda mask. Continuing to that the children had an absolute blast at the Comedy Show getting covered in ‘snot’. We then ended our holidays in the best way by spending the day at the Melbourne Zoo where the children got to see all the animals they desired! Rumour has it that the Butterfly Enclosure was their favourite place!

Week 1 – ‘Fantastic Food’

This week we have been exploring all things Food! We started our week by introducing some new fruits to our afternoon fruit platter. This included: Mango and Dragon fruit. The children absolutely loved the Dragon fruit and thought it was cool how it can be either pink or white. Continuing in the week the children had lost of fun with two of our brand-new games ‘Bop It’ and ‘Rubix Match’. It is amazing to see the children show persistence when playing these games as some times they can be very hard. Further to this it is lovely to see other children so supportive of their peers as they play these games. Over the course of the week the children also engaged in activities such as making paper avocados, drawing themselves as pizza’s and using fruit to make stamped crafts! This week was jam-packed with activities, and we are so excited that we were able to start Term 2 off with so much fun and laughter. We cannot wait to see what the rest of the Term has in store for the children!

Week 2 – ‘Beach Bash’

This week we were thinking all things, Beach. The children have had lots of fun making their very own Paper Bowl Turtles and playing games such as Capture The Flag. Like last week Bop It and Rubix Match continue to be very prevalent in the children’s interest and they are all showing so much progress in their achievement which makes them very excited. Another highlight this week has been Harma Beads and Loom Bands. The children have maximised their creativity and shown us that there is always something new to create. It has been so much fun to support the children through these endeavours. Finally, this week, Friday was a Pupil Free Day and at TheirCare we declared this day as our ‘Beach Party’. The children have had so much fun making Sand Shaped Wall Art, Paper Plate Beach Scenes, and Popsicle Stick Boats. It was lovely to see how the children helped one another during these tasks and we are so proud of all that they made!

Sun Safety

Coming in Term 2, we would like to reassure all parents and guardians that we closely monitor the Temperature and UV Rays before engaging in outdoor play and Hats are worn as required. Further to this we continue to ensure that sunscreen is always applied, if your child requires a specific sunscreen, please do not hesitate to let us know so that we can accommodate for this!

Many Thanks,

Swaye and Ellie
