From the classroom

Year 1

This week, the Year1 students have been learning about plants and their parts, suhc as the roots, stem, leqaves and flower. Have you ever conducted this experiment, where you put a flower into a jar of water with food colouring? What do you notice about the before and after pictures?

Year 3

Learning about the different Life Cycles of living things is often a favourite topic among students - just ask the Year 3's. Their classroom is now home to some meal worms and over this term they will observe how they will transform into a darkling beetle! Be sure to visit their classroom!

Year 4

Armed with thermometers and boundless enthusiasm, our budding year 4 scientists set out to investigate the principles of heat. Through collaborative efforts and teamwork, students engaged in real-time experimentation, recording temperatures and observing any changes that occurred over a period of ten minutes'.

Year 5

The Year 5 students are learning about animal adaptations, so to start their uni they revised all the characterstics that something needs to be considered a LIVING thing! Here are some of their canva creations!

Throughout the unit, they will conduct a series of experiments to investigate the various animal adaptations!  In this activity, the students discovered that the hand covered in lard did not feel the freezing water compared to the uncoveered hand. This helped us to understand how some animals like whales and seals, use blubber to keep themselves warm in freezing water.

Year 6

As part of their 'Be Ready to Learn' unit, the Year 6 students were set a challenge to 'Be Ready to Learn .....a new skill'!

The students needed to identify their character strengths to help choose their skill as well as identiry how this skill could be transferable in other aspects of life.

The showcase was simply outstanding.  Stay tuned for further celebrations of some of the outstanding projects and presentations.
