Term 2 has got off to a flyer!!! April has been busy and was kicked off with our House Athletics Carnival that took place on Wednesday the 17th. It was a fantastic day for all!
In this week's sport report please find the following information regarding:
What a way to start the term! It was a fantastic turn out and the event was a huge success, both on and off the track. Thank you to everyone that came along and made the day a heap of fun including the teachers for their support across the day, with special mention to those who worked on the track and field events all day. Participation was at a peak both on the track, with 100m races coming down to the wire, some outstanding jumps and records smashed!
The day started with the 1500m walk and it was a beautiful way to get everyone moving and kick off the day. We then moved into the 100m events, and it was absolutely fantastic to see so many competing in heat after heat, particularly in the junior events. The field events were kept busy with often lines stretching out 20 25 competitors! Here are some more of the highlights…
AGE GIRLS BOYS
13/U Ruby Moore Liam Carroll
14/U Grace Robinson Owen Burchfield
15/U Georgia Graham Ben Hodgson
16/U Imogen McIntosh Samuel Raftery
17/U Sienna Beddoe Blake Kringle
18/U Jessica Hodgson Luke Pearson
We’ve had a great start to the term with many teams out competing in State and Regional Finals. To kick off Term 2 we had 4 swimmers compete at the SSV State Championships.
Ruby Moore finished 4th in the 12-15yo 200m IM (as a 13 year old!) An amazing effort for someone who still has 2 more years in this age group!
Our 17/U girls relay team left nothing in the tank as they finished a split second (even less!!) behind to finish 4th. The team completed the relay in 2:05:35 while 3rd place finished in 2:05:26!! Well done girls!
Our Inter baseball boys had a great day, missing out on finals by half a game. The way they represented the College was outstanding and they made us all very proud. Also the tennis teams have been out in Force after we dominated our Division in term 1. Our Intermediate boys came home Runners Up at Region while our 7’s and 8’s are competing this week.
Last Friday saw the first of our Diamond Valley Mountain Bike riders take to the slopes. They represented the College in both the Rocky Trail Academy and the Fox Superflow Sealed event both placing in the top group 5th and 25th out of 123 riders!! Congratulations Tane Yalden and Liam McNeill on your outstanding iniative and efforts.
