Trafalgar Primary School’s Sport and Physical Education Program Announced as Best in Victoria

The 2023 Victorian School Sports Awards (VSSA) celebrated the outstanding sporting achievements of Victorian Government school students, teachers, and schools at the Melbourne Cricket Club Members Dining Room on Wednesday 27 March 2024. These awards are the highest sporting accolades presented in Victoria’s government school system.

Special guests in attendance included Darren Cheeseman, Parliamentary Secretary for Education, Phil Grillo, Victorian State Manager, Rebel, Matt Cameron, Manager – Build Neighbourhood and Built Systems, VicHealth, Victorian School Sports Awards alumni, Jack Howell, an international para triathlete, Becky Webster, Geelong AFLW player with Champion Australian marathon runner and Commonwealth Games gold medallist, Steve Moneghetti AM, facilitating the awards ceremony attended by 220 guests.

It gives us great pleasure to announce that Trafalgar Primary School was awarded the prestigious 2023 Victorian School Sports Award for Outstanding School and Community Partnership, for providing students with opportunities to participate in a diverse range of activities through strong connections to local sporting groups.

This is an exceptional achievement that recognises all the hard work and dedication that everyone in the Trafalgar Primary School community, and in the broader Trafalgar sporting community, has contributed to engaging and supporting young people in their sporting endeavours through the launch of our new Sport and Physical Education program in 2023.

As we celebrate this remarkable accomplishment, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the local sporting groups and community volunteers, whose willingness to collaborate with us on this program has been instrumental in nurturing the talents and passions of our students, and in supporting us to develop the premier primary school Sport and Physical Education in the State of Victoria.

Term 2 Breakfast Club News!

It has been wonderful to welcome students and families back to Breakfast Club this term!  We have had so many students visit us in the mornings for delicious toasties, cereals and milos to help kick start their learning day.  We are so thankful for the many generous food donations provided by the community and from our sponsors - Foodbank, IGA Trafalgar, Bakers Delight Mid Valley and Gracie’s Bakery.

Due to these donations, Breakfast Club continues to be able to support families through the provision of Care Packages.  We remind families that our Traf Pantry can be found in the Gym Foyer and continues to be stocked with many excellent products, available to anyone - and they’re free!  If you would like to receive a Care Package or know of a family who may benefit, feel free to drop into our School Office, see Mrs Burns or Mrs Marslen.

Donations of Jam and Milo needed, please!

Thank you again to all families who have generously donated tins of Milo to our Breakfast Club.  As cooler weather approaches in Term 2, Breakfast Club will begin to introduce warm Milos.  Any extra donations of Milo, as well as jam would be greatly appreciated to support our school community!

Looking forward to seeing you for brekky!
