Students enjoying the new Primary sandpit deck
We are looking forward to another great term of learning and encouraging the students in all areas of their lives academically, physically, emotionally, social, and spiritually.
We have a number of events to look forward to with the whole school Cross Country event being the first one. It is held at school on Wednesday 8 May. Parents, carers and friends are most welcome to attend to watch and cheer the students on as they participate.
Parent teacher interviews will be held for all Primary (Kinder to Year 6) students on Tuesday 7 May. They are a wonderful opportunity for parents to connect with the teachers, discuss your child’s strengths and set goals for their future learning. Teachers will have work samples to show you and discuss areas for development. I encourage you to book a time and come along.
Many students have been reading daily and we value your support in encouraging your child with their Home Reading. We have had students reach the 50-night mark in their Home Reading logbooks and are setting their sights on 100 nights next. Keep up the good work!
Winter sports are underway and a very big thank you to Sonya Ambrose who organises this aspect of college life. Thanks also to the parents and secondary students who have volunteered to assist with managing and coaching teams. Your contribution is extremely valuable and much appreciated. Go SCC teams!
Over the break we have seen improvements in the Kinder and Primary playground with the sandpits being redeveloped and refilled. Children love playing in the sand and they are a great place for collaborative play and development of gross motor skills especially in the upper body as they dig, pour, sift and scoop the sand. They are also places where a great deal of communication and problem solving occurs as well as a whole lot of fun.
