Green Team News

As the warm weather is coming to an end, it was time to clean out some of the garden beds in Brendan’s Garden and prepare them for our winter crops. With the help of some very enthusiastic Foundation students, the lettuces, capsicums, zucchini and tomatoes were harvested. The students then assisted with mulching the garden beds, making sure the beetroot, cabbages, brussel sprouts and radishes were not covered by the mulch. I was most appreciative of my little helpers!

After lunch, the Green Team gathered at Brendan’s Garden to examine the garden beds and discuss the growth of the various seedlings we had planted before the holidays.

It was then time to get to work, as we had limited time due to the whole school gathering for an ANZAC Day Ceremony. We revised how we had placed Rosemary cuttings in jars of water six weeks ago, hoping they would grow roots and be able to be planted in soil. The students were amazed by the roots many of the Rosemary cuttings had developed and were very keen to plant them in some potting mix. After being taught how to pot up the cuttings in a small pot, each team member carefully planted two cuttings independently. We can’t wait to see if our cuttings continue to grow in the potting mix.

Here are some photos of the students having fun outdoors.

The Trophy for Term 1 'Art Class Masters' goes to 3/4M.

Congratulations on your beautiful behaviour and manners. Keep up the great work.

5/6 Excursion

On Thursday the Year 5/6 students went on our excursion.

It was super exciting to be able to go to the Old Melbourne Gaol and it exceeded our expectations! We loved it and we did not know that there were 3,000 bodies buried under the Victorian Market. We got to go and see the jail cells and we sat in some to see what it was like for the prisoners at the time! -Fawn

We had such a fun time, I was so excited to go to the City. It was so much fun going to the Old Melbourne Gaol and then being able to go to the Fitzroy Gardens for Lunch and then to the Victorian Market and learn about what it takes to run a stall there.  I was able to buy some lollies, ice-cream and some donuts with my friends with my budget of $15. I even had change! It was great to go to different places.-Johari
