Principals Report

Sue Carr

Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of St Brendan’s,

Welcome to Week Four. Our school continues to be a busy and vibrant place during the early weeks of Term Two. I have chosen to simply write about the special role of mothers and how they enrich the lives of their children in so many wonderful, loving and creatively generous ways.

Mothers Day

This week, I’d like to take the time to honour the magnificent women in our community and beyond who are mothers. Being a mother is such an important role in life. Mothers are the nurturers, the creatives, the life force behind their children. Mothers help to shape the children who will lead our world in the future. Mothers are dynamic forces of love who help to make our world a better, kinder place.

I would like to honour every woman in our community who has thought about being a mother, wants to be a mother or who is a mother, grandmother, great grandmother or cares for children and young people in a mothering role. I know that there are days when it feels as though your love, your efforts, your fears and worries go unnoticed by partners, relatives and friends. I know that there are times when the work of being a mother is exhausting, lonely, frustrating and frightening. I know that not a day goes by that you don’t love your children with all your heart.

Being a mother plays on so many of our emotions and while often we are exhausted by the sheer hard work and relentlessness of raising and caring for children, it is also the role that brings enormous positive emotion. Being a mother brings to the surface and also deep into our hearts the wonderfully positive feelings of love, hope, excitement, pride and joy.

I want to acknowledge and celebrate all the mothers who give their best every day of their lives to grow and nurture their children, the children who are our future. I want to speak especially to the magnificent St Brendan’s mums and grandmothers who enrich our beautiful school community with their presence. I wish each and every one of you a beautiful day on Sunday and I look forward to seeing many of you at our Mother’s Day breakfast and special Mass for mothers on Thursday.

Thank you for being who you are and happy Mother's Day..

Sue
