Year 11 VCE and Careers Expo
On Thursday 30 April, our Year 11 students attended the VCE and Careers Expo, an important event designed to support students as they begin to consider their future pathways beyond school.
The Expo connects students, parents, jobseekers and educators with a wide range of universities, TAFEs, training providers and employers. Throughout the day, our students had the opportunity to explore a variety of post-school options, speak directly with representatives and gather valuable information about courses and career pathways.
Students engaged positively with exhibitors, asking questions and gaining insights into different industries and study options. This experience plays a key role in helping them make informed decisions about their VCE subjects and future plans.
Opportunities such as the VCE and Careers Expo are an important part of our careers program, providing students with real-world information and connections to support confident and informed pathway choices.
Year 9 Morrisby Program
Our Year 9 students are continuing to benefit from their interviews with Morrisby career consultants, gaining valuable insights to support their future pathways. These one-on-one sessions provide personalised guidance, helping students better understand their strengths, interests and potential career directions.
This process started with the Morrisby Assessment, an important tool designed to support students as they begin making decisions about their future. Through a series of activities and questionnaires, the assessment provided detailed information about each student’s skills, learning preferences and possible career pathways. These insights play a key role in guiding subject selections and informing future study or career plans.
The combination of the assessment and individual interviews ensures that students are not only receiving data, but also meaningful interpretation and advice from experienced consultants. This personalised approach empowers students to make informed decisions with greater confidence.
There are still a small number of Year 9 students who have not yet completed their Morrisby Assessment. Our Careers team will be in contact with these students shortly to arrange a time for them to complete this important part of the program.
Year 10 Pathways Day
On Monday, the 4th of May, our Year 10 students will take part in a Year 10 Pathways Day. The program has been designed to develop their understanding of the VCE and VCE VM pathways, support goal setting and provide insight into the wide range of options available beyond Year 10.
As part of the day, students will hear from a range of guest speakers representing TAFEs, universities and other post-school pathway providers.
Year 10 Work Experience Program
MONDAY 22ND JUNE TO FRIDAY 26TH JUNE 2026
The Year 10 Work Experience Program will take place from Monday, the 22nd of June to Friday, the 26th of June 2026, during the final week of Term 2.
This valuable program gives students the opportunity to gain firsthand experience in a workplace, helping them explore potential career pathways and make more informed decisions about their future. As part of the Year 10 Humanities program, participation in Work Experience is compulsory for all students.
Students have now received their Work Experience Arrangement Forms and are encouraged to begin securing a placement if they have not already done so. Finding a placement early is strongly recommended so students can access an area of genuine interest. All sections of the form must be fully completed, as this is a legal requirement.
A copy of the Work Experience Arrangement Form is also available on Compass under Futures, English, or Work-Related Skills – Learning Tasks. If additional copies are required, students should download them from Compass, as their details have already been entered.
Students are responsible for organising their own placement with a suitable employer. If they experience any difficulty finding a placement, support is available through the Careers and Pathways Office.
All completed Work Experience Arrangement Forms must be submitted to the Careers and Pathways Office by Friday, the 29th of May 2026.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Lesley McKay in the Careers and Pathways Office on 5945 1433.

Career Spotlight - Agricultural Technician
If you are curious about how things grow, how animals thrive, or how technology can improve farming, a career as an agricultural technician could be right for you!
What is an Agricultural Technician?
An Agricultural Technician helps farmers and researchers improve crops, livestock and farm productivity. They collect and analyse data on soil, plants and animals, use technology to monitor farm conditions, and assist with testing new farming methods. Technicians might work on farms, in laboratories, at research centres, or for agricultural businesses and government agencies.
What skills and strengths are needed?
Practical problem-solving and attention to detail are essential, as technicians often measure, record and analyse farm data. Good communication skills help when working with farmers, scientists, or farm staff. Curiosity and a willingness to learn are important for understanding new technology, sustainable farming methods and innovations in agriculture. Physical fitness and resilience can also be useful, as work may involve outdoor and hands-on tasks.
What are the pathways?
You can start with short courses or certificates in agriculture, horticulture, or animal care.
Many technicians go on to study diplomas or degrees in agricultural science, agribusiness, or farm management.
Gaining hands-on experience through work placements, internships, or volunteering on farms is highly valuable.
Learning how to use farm technology, conduct experiments and apply sustainable practices can open doors to a practical, in-demand career in agriculture.
