Wellbeing

The Wellbeing team would like to welcome our parents and students back for Term Two. We hope you all had a fulfilling holiday with some time for rest and relaxation.

WHSC Wellbeing Framework

Our Wellbeing team has spent the past few weeks applying the feedback gathered from our community during our Wellbeing @ WHSC Workshop. This invaluable feedback has helped us to refine and expand a final version of our Wellbeing Framework.

We would love to hear more from our parents and gain your thoughts on the updated Framework. To facilitate this, a stall will be set up in the foyer of E block during our Learning and Wellbeing Conferences on May 9th. There will be information provided regarding the Framework and a QR code linking to a few short questions. These responses will inform our final changes to the Framework before its launch this term.

Back to School Routines

As we move from holiday mode into Term 2, it’s normal for students to feel a little out of rhythm. Holidays are all about late nights, relaxed mornings and fewer responsibilities. This can make the transition back to the structure of school feel challenging. If your child is struggling to adjust, re‑establishing routines can be a great way to ease the change and support their wellbeing.

Routines help create structure and predictability in the day. Knowing when to wake up, eat, study and relax supports better sleep, improves concentration and reduces stress. When our bodies and minds know what to expect, it’s easier to feel calm, organised and ready to learn.

For students, simple routines like setting a regular bedtime, preparing school bags the night before, or scheduling time for homework and relaxation can make a big difference. These small habits help build a sense of control and achievement, especially during busy weeks.

Families can support this transition by gradually adjusting sleep and screen time, encouraging consistent morning and after‑school routines, and checking in about how students are feeling as term begins.

Remember, routines don’t need to be perfect to be helpful. It’s okay if it takes time to settle back in. A little structure now can set the foundation for a positive and successful term ahead.
