Middle School

Over the past few weeks, the Year 3/4 students have been diving deeper into their understanding of 3D shapes in Maths. They have been exploring how different shapes are constructed, how they fit together, and where we see them in the world around us.

One of the highlights of this unit was a hands‑on project where students recreated famous Australian landmarks using a variety of 3D shapes. From cylinders and pyramids to prisms and cubes, the classroom was buzzing with creativity as students experimented with different materials to bring their structures to life. Once completed, they carefully labelled the shapes they used, showing not only their artistic flair but also their growing confidence in mathematical vocabulary.

It has been wonderful to see the students so engaged, collaborating, problem‑solving, and proudly sharing their finished landmarks with one another. This practical approach has helped them make strong connections between mathematical concepts and real‑world structures.
