Dear Parents, 

MOTHER'S DAY

It was so lovely to have our parents and families join us for cookies and coffee as part of our Mother’s Day celebration. The students were absolutely delighted to sing a special tribute to the beautiful mothers and mother figures in their lives and they loved welcoming you into their classrooms to proudly share their learning.

We extend a very special thank you to our incredible P & F team, along with the dedicated parents who helped organise the coffee and cookie morning and the Mother’s Day Stall. Your time, generosity and enthusiasm helped create a joyful and memorable experience for our whole community.

We wish all mothers, grandmothers and carers a very happy Mother’s Day this Sunday. May your day be filled with love, rest, and appreciation.

SCS PARENT CHARTER

The Sydney Catholic Schools Parent Charter's purpose is to protect the wellbeing of every child, strengthen trust between home and school and ensure concerns are handled safely, respectfully and in line with our shared Catholic values. It plays a vital role in shaping strong, respectful partnerships between families and schools that guides how we work together to build communities grounded in faith, hope and love.

One of the most important reminders in the Charter is that parents must not approach other students or other parents to resolve issues. This guideline exists for several key reasons:

• Student safety: Approaching a child who is not your own can create distress, confusion, or unintended conflict. The Charter emphasises respectful, safe interactions across the whole community, including protecting the privacy and dignity of every student.

   

• Clear communication pathways: Teachers and staff are trained to manage student behaviour, mediate concerns, and ensure all perspectives are heard fairly. The Charter recognises staff expertise in supporting student learning and wellbeing, and positions them as the appropriate first point of contact for any issue.

   

• Preventing misunderstandings: When concerns are raised directly with staff, they can gather accurate information, speak with the relevant students, and respond in a way that is consistent, measured, and aligned with school policies.

   

• Maintaining a positive community: Approaching other parents or students can escalate tensions. Following the Charter helps preserve a culture of respect, trust, and collaboration—something Sydney Catholic Schools identifies as essential to a thriving community .

By honouring the Parent Charter, families actively contribute to a school environment where every child feels safe, every parent feels respected and every concern is handled with care and professionalism. It ensures that we continue to work together in the spirit of partnership that defines our Catholic school communities.

GROWING BODIES, GROWING MINDS

As our students grow and change, conversations about bodies and appearance can naturally begin to surface in the playground. At St Aidan’s, we regularly explore themes of respect, inclusion and body diversity through our wellbeing programs and everyday classroom discussions.

We encourage families to continue these conversations at home too, reminding children that bodies come in all shapes and sizes and that growing at different rates is completely normal. When school and home work together, we can help our young people develop confidence, kindness and a healthy sense of self.

ONLINE SAFETY REMINDER

As part of our ongoing commitment to student wellbeing, we continue to remind our students to think carefully about how they engage online. Large group chats can quickly become unsafe spaces and students are advised not to participate in group chats.

We ask families to remind students that every comment, message and interaction contributes to their digital footprint. Choosing to interact positively and respectfully online helps create the kind of online presence they can be proud of, one that reflects kindness, responsibility and good judgement.

MORNING DROP OFF REMINDER

We have noticed that some students are being dropped off at school quite early and left unsupervised. Before 8.30am, staff are not on duty, and students are playing, often with balls, near a main road. This creates a significant safety risk and we want to ensure every child is safe at all times.

Please ensure your child is not dropped off before 8.30am unless they are attending a supervised program or you are staying with them to supervise them until the bell at 8.30am. Your support helps us keep all students safe and accounted for.
