It is with heartfelt thanks, a touch of sadness, and our very best wishes that we announce the upcoming retirement of Mrs Walsh, a long-standing and deeply valued member of the Park Orchards Primary School community.
Mrs Walsh’s connection to POPS began when her eldest son, Mitchell, started at the school, followed by Bec and Tayla. She quickly became an active and committed member of the school community, generously volunteering her time through the Parents' Association, including in the role of treasurer.
Later, she formally joined the POPS team as our Business Manager, a role in which she has served with exceptional dedication, integrity and care. Through her meticulous financial management and tireless behind the scenes work, Mrs Walsh has ensured that school resources have been used wisely and effectively to support the learning and wellbeing of every student.
She has been instrumental in maintaining and enhancing our school facilities, and her leadership has played a key role in the planning and development of our buildings and learning spaces. The positive impact of her work will be felt by generations of POPS students to come.
We are incredibly grateful for Mrs Walsh’s over 25 years of hard work and unwavering commitment to the school. Her contributions have helped shape the environment we enjoy today, and her presence will be greatly missed by students, staff and families alike.
We wish her all the very best for a joyful, well-earned retirement. Mrs Walsh will be retiring at the end of this term. Please make sure you drop into the Office to wish her well and thank her for her service to POPS and our community.
A lovely message from Val from Guide Dogs Victoria.
Thank you so much for the incredible amount raised by the school fundraiser. Thank you to everyone involved, students, staff and families from Guide Dog Victoria. It will certainly go a long way in helping one of our Pups achieve the goal of becoming a Guide Dog and be a lifelong companion to someone with vision impairment and in changing their lives.
You have a wonderful school, I hope the students and staff enjoyed the Dress Up Day.
A big thank you also from Lex and me. Lex has now returned to Guide Dogs Victoria for assessment to see what the future holds for him.
Families can still donate to Guide Dogs Victoria until the end of June. To donate, please click on the link Guide Dogs Victoria Fundraiser.
On Monday, students gathered in their multi-age POPS Tribes for a special session led by our Year 6 leaders, focusing on empathy and the work of Guide Dogs Australia. To read more about the session, please visit the Student Wellbeing page to read about the session.
Thank you to all the families who have kindly offered to host students from Jingling Primary School, we now have enough hosts to accommodate all 13 visiting students!
To help you prepare for their arrival, we will be holding an online information session on Monday, June 23 at 5:30 pm. This session will cover details about the visit and give you a chance to ask any questions. It’s a very exciting opportunity for our school community!
Also, please mark on your calendars a special welcome assembly on Monday, June 23 at 3:00 pm, where we will officially greet our visitors and their teachers.
We look forward to sharing this memorable experience with you!
