Burnie Campus News

đChristmas in Julyđ
Who says you canât have Christmas twice a year? Â We embraced the chilly weather with a bit of mid-year joy. Â Christmas in July at Burnie brought joy, laughter, and plenty of festive fun for our first day back of Term 3! đ
đđ»Learn to Swim đđ»ââïž
Halfway through their Learn To Swim lessons and our Burnie campus students are seeing much progress! Their confidence, skills, and engagement rise each day as they enter the pool and practice their stokes. Thank you to all of the staff who have been working with our students to ensure that they develop essential swimming skills.

Preschool Outcomes Measure
Our school will be participating in a trial of a new tool called the Preschool Outcomes Measure. This tool is designed to help teachers better understand a childâs learning and development in Kindergarten. It focuses on a childâs language and problem-solving skills.Â
Â
The trial is part of a National Applied Trial being conducted in schools across all states and territories, aimed at improving educational outcomes for children in the year before full-time school.Â
Â
Only some kindergarten children may be invited to take part in the trial. If selected, your child will participate in a range of familiar classroom activities as part of the process. If you do not wish for your child to be included in the National Applied Trial, please return the âOpt-out formâ to your childâs teacher by Friday 15 August. If our school does not receive this form from you by this date, your child may be included in the trial. Â
Â
To find out more about the Preschool Outcomes Measure and the National Applied Trial, please read the fact sheet sent out via EdSmart or ask your childâs teacher.Â
Â
Parents, you have been sent a survey about the possibility of starting Before & After School Care on the Burnie Campus. We would appreciate you taking a minute or two, to complete the survey  if this option may be something that would support your family.Â
