Year 5/6

During this term we have been doing many activities. All of our work has finally paid off. We have loads of fun along the way like potato Olympics (Math), Passion Project, testi informativi (scrittura), structures of texts (writing), and so much more!

In Writing we’ve been making information texts about rainforests, coral reefs, ancient Rome, black holes, and earthquakes. We planned, drafted, published, and studied each of our topics very thoroughly. We all ended up publishing on either paper/poster or on slides through the Chromebooks.

In Lettura, we have been learning about ‘lettura veloce’ (skimming) and ‘lettura selettiva’ (scanning). Skimming means finding the main idea of the text. Scanning means fast but finding specific information in the text.

In Matematica, we have been learning about length, capacity, and mass. We have used different tools to accurately measure different items and learnt how to convert between units of measurement. We have applied all that we’ve learnt on making gnocchi!
