Principal's Message
Carmela D'Amato
Dear Parents and Families,
We hope this message finds you well. The last two weeks have absolutely flown! You may have noticed that we have had a number of staff and students away sick, so Winter has well and truly set in. We ask that you continue looking after yourselves during this cold season. Where your child is not feeling well, please consider keeping them at home until they are well enough to come to school.
VISION FOR ENGAGEMENT
On Wednesday evening I had the pleasure of attending the launch of MACS` Vision For Engagement, a new commitment to nurturing calm, respectful and inclusive classrooms, something which I truly believe is alive in our school. The MACS Vision for engagement outlines 6 practices for engagement, which closely align to our current practices:
These engagement practices are:
• Teaching respectful behaviour
• Fostering belonging
• Focusing on attendance
• Promoting mental health and wellbeing
• Enabling motivation
• Targeting individual learning needs.
Only 2 weeks ago, our staff gathered as one to unpack and audit the strategies that we are already implementing within our schools. For each strategy we looked at:
its definition
its purpose and where the resources and lessons can be found.
what we are already implementing in our classrooms
in light of the definition and purpose, how can we embed these strategies even more effectively.
With the launch of this commitment, we are looking forward to further aligning our current practice with our Vision for Engagement.

What’s App groups
We have been notified that there are various what’s app groups where messages are not always respectful towards staff, students, the school or other parents. In no way do we endorse What’s app groups and we ask all parents that are asked to join any groups, to do so with caution. As a refresher, we urge you to read over the code of conduct so that we can all contribute to an environment that is respectful and safe for everyone.
We are asking you to excerice vigilance when speaking about sensitive topics at home with other adults. There have been a few occassions where students have come to school and have repeated what was heard. This has caused unneccesary angst amongst our students and is also where rumors begin.
Out of School Care
As has been communicated throughout this term, our new Out of School Care provider will be MACSEYE as per Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools directive.
MACSEYE is part of Melbourne Archdiocese Catholic Schools and provides high-quality, child-focused care that is welcoming, safe, and grounded in the Catholic ethos of our school. Their programs support children's wellbeing, encourage creativity and play, and offer a smooth transition between the school day and home time.
Enrolments are now open
Please see the attached service brochure for the link to the enrolment form. Also attached is a helpful fact sheet with more information about enrolment and bookings.
You can also contact MACSEYE's Customer Service Team via email contact@macseye.vic.edu.au or 1300 501 029.
We look forward to welcoming MACSEYE to our school community and will continue to keep families updated in the lead-up to the transition.
Have an amazing fortnight!
