During Literacy we started learning about predicting. You can make predictions before during and after reading. This week we woked on making prediction before reading and we know that it is ok if our prediction turns out to be wrong. We have also begun work on our information report about the Gold Rush. We have been using the writing process and have started planning our ideas about gold mining methods.
During Numeracy, we have started our unit on angles. The students have worked hard to identify and compare different types of angles and clasify them as equal to, greater than, or less than a right angle.

This term we have been investigating the events that occured during the Gold Rush. We have looked at a range of information (articles, books, videos) to help us understand what life was like in the mid 1800s in Victoria. We have learned about what gold is, where is was found, and who came to Ballarat to try their luck at searching for gold. This week we investigated different mining techniques and tools which include panning, cradling, sluicing, windlass, washing cradle and fossicking.
