Week 10, Term 2

Performing Arts

Due to planning week and the pupil free day on Friday, not all classes will have performing arts this week. 

 

Prep

Students will create and perform their own rhythms using clapping sticks. They will also continue to learn one of their songs in Matilda Jr..

 

Grade 1 and 2

No performing arts classes this week due to planning week.

 

Grade 3 and 4

Students will continue to learn and practise their songs for Matilda Jr.. They will also start to learn the movements and actions for the songs.

 

Grade 5 and 6

Students will continue to learn and practise their songs for Matilda Jr.. They will also start to learn the movements and actions for the songs.

 

Visual Arts

Due to planning week and the pupil free day on Friday, not all classes will have Visual Arts this week. 

 

Art Club

Last week was the final Art club for the term and the last for the Grade 5/6s for the year.

They went out with a bang, creating some beautifully designed bowls and plates using ceramic markers and stencils.

 

 

Tea Towel Fundraiser

In the last two weeks during Art classes, every single child in the school has created a portrait of themselves to be sent away to the company 'Expressions' to be screen printed onto a tea towel for you to purchase if you would like. This is to commemorate the 130th birthday of the school. Here's a sneak peek at some of the teacher portraits that the students took part in creating. 

 

In the classroom...

Prep

Students will be creating a ‘Secret Name Painting’. Using pastels they will draw the letters of their name randomly around their page and then use watercolour paints to disguise it and create a pattern background to confuse the viewer about who’s artwork it is!

 

Grade 1

Students will finish off their Anna Blatman inspired Peabody Bird including layering collage papers and mounting their work. They will also be beginning their Father’s Day project which is top secret!

 

Grade 2

Students will be finishing off their stitched birds including an eye, wing, feet and background details. 

 

Grade 3/4 

Students will be continuing to work on their Howard Arkley inspired house facade, adding the final layer to their work - pop art stencils before mounting them for display at the artshow.

 

Grade 5

Students will continue to work on their Snowy River birds eye view artwork, adding paint pen details to their embossed tin.

 

Grade 6

Students will be creating their Father’s Day present, using leather and metal embossing tools.
