Principals Message

Dear Families, Teachers, and Students,
As we reach the end of Term 2, I want to thank you all for your continued support, adaptability, and dedication to the learning and wellbeing of every student at Trafalgar Primary School.
Despite the challenges we’ve faced, including the ongoing pressure on staffing and illness in the community, our collective efforts are paying off. We’re pleased to share that school performance continues to improve. Early indications suggest a positive uplift in NAPLAN results in the areas we are working on, and our Semester 1 assessment data points to strong gains in key areas such as Reading, Numeracy, Spelling, and Grammar across both Year 3 and Year 5. In particular, the proportion of students achieving in the ‘Exceeding and Strong’ bands has significantly increased in Year 5 Reading and Numeracy, as well as Year 3 Spelling and Writing. These results reflect the focus and effort of our teaching teams and the hard work of our students.
Additionally, we continue to perform well in the Student Attitudes to School Survey, with results well above similar schools in key areas such as school connectedness and engagement. Our internal analysis of Teacher Judgments also shows outstanding growth in Health and PE, again performing well above schools with similar contexts. This is a testament to the quality of the program and the passion of our staff.
Semester Reports
Semester 1 academic reports will be released early next week through Compass. These provide an overview of your child’s progress against the Victorian Curriculum using progression points. Please remember that full reports are only accessible via the desktop version of Compass. If you require help logging in or navigating the platform, please contact the school office.
GPA Progress Reports
Families will also receive updated GPA Progress Reports next week. These track student learning behaviours, engagement, and effort, helping us to celebrate progress and provide timely support.
Capital Works- Fence Stage 2.
We’re also pleased to confirm that Stage 2 of our fencing upgrade is expected to commence next week. This project will bring the remainder of our school’s fencing up to contemporary safety standards.
To our students, congratulations on your hard work and achievements this semester. To our families, thank you for your partnership and trust. And to our staff, your commitment and perseverance are what make this community so strong.
Wishing everyone a safe, happy, and restful winter break.
Sincerely,
Cameron Nicholls
Principal
