đ Divisional Hockey 7s â A Great Effort from Our Trafalgar Team!
Â
On Monday 16th June, a determined group of Trafalgar Primary School students represented our school at the West Gippsland Divisional Hockey 7s competition in Drouin.
In what was a fast-paced and high-energy match, our students played with great spirit, teamwork and sportsmanship. Although the final score was a 5â1 loss, the team should be incredibly proud of their performance. They showed real growth throughout the match, adapting quickly to the speed and structure of the Hockey 7s format and creating several impressive passages of play.
Â
Our goal was the result of excellent teamwork and persistence, and it was celebrated enthusiastically by the entire team and supporters. More importantly, our students displayed fantastic attitude and resilience, representing Trafalgar Primary School with pride.
Â
A big thank you to our volunteer drivers and supporters who helped make the day possible, and well done to all players for their positive approach and willingness to give something new a go. We look forward to building on this experience in future competitions!

Â
On Thursday, 5 June 2025, five Trafalgar Primary School students proudly represented our school at the Gippsland Regional Cross Country, held at Drouin Golf & Country Club. Competing against some of the best runners in the region, our students gave it their all and should be very proud of their efforts.
Trafalgar PS Results
Congratulations to all five students on this fantastic achievement. A special mention goes to Libby Blake, who finished just outside the top 12 needed to qualify for the State Championshipsâa great result at this level of competition.
Â
Thank you to the families who supported their children on the day by arranging transport and being there to cheer them on. Your involvement is greatly appreciated.
Â
Well done again to our regional teamâyouâve made our school proud đ!

đľ Junior Dance Program Wrap-Up â A Fantastic Finish!
Â
Over the past month, our Foundation to Grade 2 students have been working hard in their weekly dance sessions with instructors from Decipher Danceâand what an enjoyable and rewarding program itâs been.
Each Friday, the gym was filled with energy as students warmed up, explored new dance techniques, and rehearsed their routines. The focus, enthusiasm, and teamwork on display throughout the program were impressive, and it was clear that students were fully engaged from start to finish.
The final performance at Fridayâs whole-school assembly was a real highlight. Each group took to the stage with confidence, timing, and a great sense of fun. There were even a few familiar songs and themes that had some of the older students and staff quietly humming along...
A big thank you to Miss Bobbie and Jewel from Decipher Dance for their expert guidance, and to all our staff who supported the program each week. The students should be very proud of what they achievedâwe certainly are!

Song of the YearÂ
Â
In Terms 2 and 3, music classes start each lesson by listening and interacting with 2 songs and then voting on one. These songs are also the bell music. We will eliminate songs until a winner is chosen. The theme for this year's contest is Music styles.

Â
Over the Kingâs Birthday weekend, the Hill End Community Centre was a buzz of activity, colour, and creativity as it hosted the 18th annual Tanjil Valley Art Show. Trafalgar Primary School proudly showcased their work along with 4 other schools from the region, Tanjil South, Willow Grove, Rawson and Yallourn North as well as alongside many private entries.Â
Â
48 students represented Trafalgar PS students had their pieces displayed, contributing to a vibrant exhibition that drew close to 1,000 visitors. Whilst we didnât take home the top awards, four of our talented students received Highly Commended and Encouragement Awards for their outstanding contributions, well done Yifei, Sophie, Mack, and Veronica!
Â
Congratulations to all who had artwork chosen (you are all winners in my eyes) and a big thank you to the families who came out and supported our school and the community for this event. As always, it's a pleasure to see so many proud and happy faces visiting the show.Â

Mrs. Brown
Last Friday the 20th of June was fabulous! Thank you to everyone who dressed up as a Superhero and donated to our fundraiser for Heart Kids. It was wonderful to look out over our school in assembly and see a sea of colour and happiness. As a community, $303.60 was raised, how amazing!
Â
Term 3 sees another busy term for our Junior School Councillors. We have two fundraisers planned. The first will be held on the Friday of week 4, August 15th. We will be raising money for our annual âFight MNDâ fundraiser. We will have some brave staff volunteers to have icy cold water dumped over their heads!
Â
Our annual âFooty Colours Dayâ will be held at the end of the term, date to be confirmed. More details to come closer to the date.
Â
Â
With Term 2 coming to an end, students will be bringing home work from their STEM folders they completed this semester. I encourage families to look at this together to find out exactly what we have been up to!
Â
The P-2 classes practised their skills in making a hypothesis and detailed observations with their Gummy Bear Picnic experiment.Â
Â
How to make Gummy Bear Icy poles:
Thread 4-5 gummy bears onto a skewer leaving space between them.
Soak the skewer and bears overnight in lemonade.
Remove from the lemonade and seal inside a container or bag.
Then leave the skewers in the freezer overnight or until you are ready to eat!
Â
Â
Grade 3 and 4 classes also practised their observation skills in a reactivity of metals investigation. We discovered that Magnesium is more reactive than Copper or Aluminium when mixed with Hydrochloric Acid or Copper Sulphate.Â
We also explored the Periodic Table of Elements, classifying the Metals, Non-Metals and Metalloids and seeing who was able to spell their name or other words using the elements letters. AsH - Arsenic Hydrogen.
Â
Â
Grade 5 and 6 classes recycled soft plastics destined for landfill into decorative bookmarks with science themes, exploring how reversible changes can be used to recycle materials.Â
Â
Â
They were also very lucky to participate in the Drone Flying Challenge, where we navigated our indoor mini drones through obstacles and completed different challenges.
Â
Â
Â
Thank you for a wonderful Semester in STEM and Iâll see you after the holidays for some Earth and Space Science and Physics!Â

Â
We've recently noticed that some students have been arriving at school significantly earlier than our official opening time. Parents and carers should be aware that, except for bus travellers, breakfast club attendees and students in Out of School Hours Care, staff supervision is unavailable before 8:45 am. Additionally, students are expected to leave promptly at the end of the school day. It is the responsibility of parents to ensure appropriate supervision outside of these times.
Â
It has been wonderful to welcome students and families back to Breakfast Club this term! We have had so many students visit us in the mornings for delicious toasties, cereals and hot milos to help kick start their learning day. We are so thankful for the many generous food donations provided by the community and from our sponsors - Foodbank, IGA Trafalgar, Bakers Delight Mid Valley and Gracieâs Bakery.
Â
Due to these donations, Breakfast Club continues to be able to support families through the provision of Care Packages. We remind families that our Traf Pantry can be found in the Gym Foyer and continues to be stocked with many excellent products, available to anyone - and theyâre free! If you would like to receive a Care Package or know of a family who may benefit, feel free to drop into our School Office, or see Mrs Marslen.
Â
Donations of Jam and Milo needed, please!
Thank you again to all families who have generously donated tins of Milo to our Breakfast Club. Any extra donations of Milo, as well as jam would be greatly appreciated to support our school community! Â
Â
Looking forward to seeing you for brekky in Term 3!
