North West Cross Country was held in Coolah Thursday 12th June, and we had a massive contingent of 17 students attend. For anyone who has been there, it is a very challenging course run through creeks and up an incredible killer hill on the golf course. Coolah is also renowned for its chilly climate and frequent rain and sleet. We had six students qualify for state Cross Country which will be held in Sydney in the first week next term and we wish Liliana Haidle, April Neppl, Olivia Selig, Mia Ross, Tyeson Steel and Ruby Morgan the best of luck.

This term has been an incredible term of sporting success for Inverell High.

We have been involved in 19 different sporting events to date and if the PE staff and other coaches are looking a bit tired and run-down this is the reason why. It’s times like this we need to pause and offer our collective thanks to our staff who go above and beyond to offer you all such an amazing range of sporting opportunities. Also, as the Head Teacher of PDHPE and Sport I want to offer you my personal thanks for all of the time and effort that you put in to make this school such an amazing place. This all happens in addition to the demands of our day to day jobs and we do it because we enjoy building relationships with our students outside the classrooms. we also remember that some of the best memories we have from school are on the sporting fields with our mates, or on the long bus trips to and from events. Thanks also needs to be given to the staff who remain here at school and cover our classes while we are out with our teams.

Country Cup Rugby League

Three Inverell High teams travelled to Tamworth Wednesday 18th June to compete in the Country Cup North West finals.

Our 13s and 15s Boys and 14s Girls Rugby League teams earned their place among the best, taking on strong sides from Farrer, Oxley, and St Joseph's Aberdeen.

While we didn’t come away with a win, it was an incredible opportunity to test our skills against top-tier talent from across the region. Well done to all our players for their determination, teamwork and sportsmanship!

Open Netball Regional Semi-Final

Monday 16th June saw Inverell High Open Girls Netball team take on Narrabri High in the regional semi final. The girls played extremely well but unfortunately went down to Narrabri 20-27. It was an extremely close game.

It brings to close a chapter of netball here at school as Heidi, Addison, Amerie and Indi have played their last game for Inverell High. Having been apart of several teams attending state finals on more then one occasion, their skills and dedication will be missed. They were all also a part of Ms Willcocks first U15’s netball team that she coached through to the state finals. Good luck to you girls in the future.

It also starts a new future with the rest of the team being from Yr 7-10. We look forward to seeing what these girls can produce in the future.

A big thank you to Emily who umpired the game for us. Also to all the families that came to support us thank you, I know the girls really appreciated it.
