Chris Kennett

At the end of Week 6, students were treated to an exciting incursion by one of our local illustrators and authors - Chris Kennett. Chris has been creating quirky characters for 20 years and has illustrated many popular books and series including 'School of Monsters', 'Nerd Herd', 'Zooniverse' and 'Cross Bones'. A special thanks to Mr Daenke for organising this event. We hope all of our students (especially our future authors and illustrators amongst us) felt inspired!

Book Week

Students had a wonderful time dressing up as their favourite book characters during this year's Book Week. We started off our day enjoying our whole school Book Parade and then moved into classroom rotations in our house groups after lunch.

Students also enjoyed completing a few activities in their own classrooms, celebrating the importance of books, imagination and creativity. Well done everyone - you looked amazing!

Learning in Weeks 9 & 10

Mathematics: This fortnight, students will continue to explore 'Patterns and Algebra' in our Fluid Groups. In Applied Maths we will measure the heights and shoe sizes of our classmates to see if we notice any patterns in this data. We will also consider how different types of graphs are better to use depending on the type of data we have collected.

Writing & Reading: In Writing, students will look at how to use emotive language and effective openers in our Persuasive pieces. During Week 10 we will publish a few of our favourite pieces from this term. In Reading, we will continue to engage in our small group reading activities as well as our weekly library sessions.

Topic: Check out our awesome balloon powered cars! Well done to our students for their amazing efforts. This fortnight we will reflect on our work during the term.
