Interschool Sports
Term 3 has been another busy and successful term for Interschool Sport at Edgars Creek Secondary College.
As we draw to a close for the upcoming Term, Interschool Sport has provided many opportunities for students, teachers and teams to compete in their Divisional Round events and Regional Round events, with the determination to extend their run into the State Rounds.
Whilst the competition this term took itself to another level in the form of schools from other divisions, the students taking part in sport this term ensured that they held onto enjoyment, collaboration and values to rise to those same levels.
Year 7
The Year 7 Boys Soccer Team competed in their Regional Round event at Darebin International Sports Centre on Friday 21st August.
The boys were determined, excited but also nervous. The boys battled all day long, leaving the event with 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss, falling just short of making it to the final game to fight for a spot in the State Round.
The boys were congratulated on their positive outlook on the day, as well as their efforts both on and off the pitch.
Year 8
The Year 8 Boys & Girls Soccer Teams competed in their respective Regional Round events at Darebin International Sports Centre on both Monday 14th August and Friday 18th August.
The girls were excited to head out try their best to make it to the State Round, as most of the girls involved did last year apart of the girls soccer team. With 1 draw and 1 loss, the girls fell short of making it to the final game. The girls were congratulated on their efforts, and were in positive spirits regardless of the results.
The boys, who like the girls, fought hard in all games fell just short of the final game with 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss. Their ability to work together as a team and support one another both on and off the pitch was congratulated.
The Year 8 Boys and Girls Basketball Teams competed in the Divisional Round at Broadmeadows Basketball Stadium on Monday 21st August.
Both teams were in high spirits, regardless of falling short in all of their qualifying games. The teams were made up of students who played basketball regularly and also students who were playing the sport competitively for the first time. They were congratulated on their team work and positive outlook throughout the day.

The Intermediate Boys Soccer Team competed in the Regional Round event at Darebin International Sports Centre on Friday 4th August.
The boys knew that the day would be tough, as they were playing against great schools with great soccer ability. The boys continued to have a positive outlook in each game, and trusted in their ability as a team, which was congratulated. The boys fell just short of the final game on goal difference, with 1 win, 1 draw and 1 loss.
The Intermediate Boys Netball Team competed in the Regional Round event at NETS Stadium in Macleod.
The Boys went into the day full of enjoyment, ands proud of their accomplishment to get to the Regional Round. The boys held this enjoyment at the forefront throughout the day, regardless of falling short of making it to the final game with 1 win and 2 losses. The boys were congratulated on their constant positive outlook.
The Intermediate Boys and Girls Basketball Teams competed in the Divisional Round at Broadmeadows Basketball Stadium on Wednesday 19th July.
Both teams were in high spirits, regardless of falling short in all of their qualifying games. The teams competed against some of the best schools in the division, and were congratulated on their team work and ability to not give up despite the results during the games.
We look forward to what Term 4 holds in terms of the Interschool Sport program, but most importantly, we look forward to our teams competing beyond 2023 and into 2024.
