Food Lab @ Whittlesea Tech School

VCE Food Technology were extremely fortunate to participate in the Bushfoods Chocolate Program at Whittlesea Tech School, where students transform into product developers!

Their challenge is to create a chocolate bar that captures the distinctive flavours of the Australian bush in a unique way, while simultaneously paying homage to Koorie culture. The journey involves an exploration of nine diverse bushfoods, each with their own unique flavour profiles and cultural significance. Students will immerse themselves in the rich histories of these food sources, using this knowledge to guide their selection of a plant extract to harmonise with their chosen chocolate variety.

Beyond the art of chocolate-making, the program also equips students with foundational skills in branding and packaging. They will learn to design a unique chocolate box, complete with their own logo and personalised package stickers. The program culminates in a marketplace event where students will showcase their creations and participate in a taste test of their peers' chocolates. This hands-on, interactive feedback session serves as a platform for students to gain valuable insights that can be applied to the further refinement of their product design.

DATTA Victoria Symposium

Some of our educators attended a amazing conference which gave our VCE Product Design & Technology teachers an in-depth understanding of the key concepts that inform the 2024-2028 study design. Held at The University of Melbourne's Science Gallery, educators had the invaluable experience of hearing from leading figures in the design sector, and working with colleagues to prepare for the years ahead.

Five keynote speakers shared their professional knowledge, as they delve into the new, exciting and challenging ideas that underpin PD & T.

WATCH THIS SPACE!

We look forward to another fantastic semester in T4!
