Humanities

The end of Term 2 allowed us to share in the success of our students as they completed major assessment tasks, and for our year 10s, their first Humanities exams. We cannot congratulate the cohort enough on their efforts! Term 3 takes off with students immersing themselves in their current units of study, with excursions and incursion running across years 7, 8, 9, 10, and VCE.

VCE

As part of their study of Victoria's criminal and civil laws, Year 11 Legal Studies students visited the Supreme Court of Victoria. Students had the opportunity to speak with an Associate Justice, who provided a unique insight into the role of a judicial officer. They also learned about the structure and operation of court rooms and had the opportunity to watch a jury empanelment for a serious case which has recently received significant media attention.

Our year 12 VCE students are on the home stretch. Year 12 Business Management students travelled to Yakult's Dandenong factory, where they experienced the manufacturing process of Yakult. Students learned about the state-of-the-art food processing technology used by Yakult, and also gained an insight into materials management, quality control, and corporate social responsibility. Students were also given the opportunity to sample the different products Yakult produces.

Year 10

Our year 10 students headed into the city to the Immigration Museum and Museum of Chinese Australian History to learn more about immigration for our Politics unit- What Makes Australia? Students were able to examine different first-hand accounts of those who have immigrated to Australia and the push and pull factors at play.

Year 9

In our year 9 selective Build Your Own Business, students joined forces with Whittlesea Tech Entrepreneurship Program to test a business idea through practical workshop activities. In this program students are developing skills in prototyping, branding, and pitching business ideas. This program enables students to explore how entrepreneurship can complement their passions, interests, and everyday frustrations to identify business opportunities now or in the future.

Year 8

In August our year 8 students had the opportunity to participate in an incursion that accompanied their unit and assessment on Medieval History. This incursion provided students with an understanding of the Ottoman Empire and the Islamic perspective of the crusades.

Year 7

At the beginning of this term year 7 students engaged in a Yarning workshop with Wanyara, an organisation committed to connecting community with culture. During this incursion, students prepared for their own class discussion by listening and sharing in the knowledge of Indigenous perspectives, practices, traditions and history.

We look forward to another fantastic semester!
