Thank you 2023, for welcoming back Drama in Years 3-6. I have been elated this year to work with such talented students. As a performer myself, I know how tough it can be to step outside of your comfort zone at a young age. I have seen students this year grow in confidence and pushed themselves further then they thought possible. To say I am a proud teacher would be an understatement. I am beyond grateful to have worked with students in years 3 to 6 and cannot wait to see what the future holds.

This semester Year 4 students, worked in teams and considered the impacts of deforestation and how it affects the parties involved. Together they performed their created characters in front of a green screen and shared their viewpoint on the topic. To extend their experience students looked forward to the future to the year 3000 where they became future archaeologist YouTubers and unearthed an imagined creature ‘The Snortlepig.’ Sharing their findings with the world via the popular video sharing website they discuss possible methods to restore the past.

This semester in Year 6, students had a go at improvisation, a performance technique involving quick and creative thinking. Students worked in teams to create short impromptu performance and competed in a Theatresports Championship, where 6E took home the Trophy of the inaugural event claiming bragging rights for the next year. In this last term of primary schooling, students looked back on their time at Brookside with fond memories in which they transformed into a sequenced script and filmed a montage video which was presented on the large screens at Graduation! A beautiful way to capture the milestone moments and a great send off into their secondary life.
