Feast of the Assumption

On Tuesday 15th August, the entire College stopped at the beginning of the day to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption. We were blessed to welcome Provincial of the Province of Australia Fr Christian Fini OMI, Rector Fr Harry Dyer OMI, Chaplain Fr Kevin Davine OMI, Fr Andrew Chen OMI, Fr Eric Alleaume OMI and Fr Joshua Nash OMI to lead the College community in a celebration of the Eucharist. This is an annual event that enables the Oblate community to gather and celebrate liturgically the influence Mary had on St Eugene de Mazenod.

Parent/Carer-Student-Teacher Interviews

Many interviews were conducted this week and hopefully this was a positive experience for families and students. Thank you for your positivity and appreciation that was communicated to staff through the process. As much as we need to encourage our students it is important to recognize the efforts and support of parents and staff.

Year 7, 2025

Last Saturday we started our interviews for Year 7 2025. Applications continue to arrive which is a very healthy situation for the College, but we are very concerned that some of our families, who have students at the College already, have not processed applications for their sons in Grade 5. This can cause unnecessary duress when offers are made, places have been filled and late applications arrive.

National Child Protection Week

The Catholic Education Commission of Victoria Ltd (CECV) is committed to ensuring the ongoing safety of children and young people and to supporting Catholic school principals, staff, and parents in providing a safe and nurturing school environment. This year’s National Child Protection Week will take place from Sunday 3 September to Saturday 9 September 2023. National Child Protection Week raises awareness about the community’s collective responsibility for the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people. This year, the focus is ‘Where we start matters’. For Catholic schools, this provides an opportunity to emphasise their strong commitment to the safety and wellbeing of young people in their care, and the important role they play in creating safe and nurturing environments at school, online, at home and in the community.

Music Gala Evening

On Tuesday September 5 the Music Gala will be held in the Provence Centre. The talents and hard work of our musicians will be on display and include contemporary and traditional items. It will be an opportunity to acknowledge the award winners in Music and the Year 12s who have dedicated six years of service to the College’s Music Program which has included, for many, the Performing Arts Festivals, Music Curriculum, AMEB Exams, tours to Mt Gambier for the Jazz Festival, The Victorian Music Festival competitions, the College Musical, School Fetes and various performances in and beyond the College. The evening helps us to appreciate the enormity of the program and the extensive number of talented students and teachers at the College.

All the best,
