Team Vic Superstars
Well done to Viyona and Sierra for their efforts at the National Schools Competition representing Victoria. Sierra came 9th in Discuss and 7th in Shotput and Viyona came 8th!Your efforts are outstanding to compete at a National level; is something that most of us can only dream of!
Prep and Grade 1
The Preps and Grade 1s have been working very hard on their single handed strikes over the last two weeks. They have been focusing on striking a moving ball with a tennis racquet. They were able to strike the ball with some accuracy and were able to aim for a target.
Grade 2
The Grade 2s have been playing an invasion game called mat ball where they have to move a ball and throw it to a person on a mat without moving with the ball. The students had to work the ball up the field together to avoid the other team so that they could score.
Vocab
Grade 3 and Grade 4
The grade 3s and 4s have continued with their net and wall units with both year levels moving onto racquet sports. The grade 3s have started Badminton and are making great progress. We have had a very strong start with serving and are building up to rallys. The grade 4s have started tennis and are starting to have rallies and begin to play for the winning point. Both year levels have been comparing how their net and wall games are similar to downball the first net and wall game we played.
Grade 5 and 6
The grade 5s and grade 6s have also continued on with net and wall games with the grade 5s transitioing into tennis and the grade 6s moving into Volleyball. The 5s have been focusing on their forehand and backhand shots as well as their shot selection depending on the location of the court that the shot needs to be made. The grade 6s have been working on shot selection and deciding if a dig, set or spike is needed in order to keep the game going and give their team a chance at winning the point.

On behalf of Cricket Victoria we would like to thank you and your child(ren) for there engagement and attitude towards the Cricket Blast Programs run at the school these last few weeks and earlier in the year (May 2024).
We received wonderful feedback on the passion and dedication your kids showed during the program and want to continue to keep them in the game (if they are already not!).
Importantly we want to continue the journey of your child in cricket and invite you to register to one of the local clubs.
Tarneit Centrals Cricket Club are located near the primary school and are one of the area’s top cricket clubs that run Woolworths Cricket Blast. We invite you to join the club’s cricket blast program and enjoy all the fun the program can provide. The club is looking to continue to run cricket blast but needs support from the community to continue.
For more information on programs at the club please head to Play Cricket where you can see what opportunities to get involved might be. You can also contact the club’s President Amrit (email is cc’d above)
Alternatively if you have another club in mind you can locate your preferred cricket club via the link Play Cricket
Thanks once again and any questions please let me know.
