Performing Arts News
As we reach the end of another year, we reflect on all the fantastic learning and creativity that has taken place in the Performing Arts department.
This past fortnight our Prep students have been busy creating a special video that showcases their learning in the Performing Arts. Through this project, they have explored movement, music, and storytelling in a fun and interactive way. The video captures the joy and excitement of their artistic journey and is a wonderful testament to their enthusiasm and creativity.
The Grade 1 and 2 students have completed their puppetry unit, where they explored the art of storytelling through puppets. They learned how to bring characters to life, practicing both voice and movement, and worked together to create their very own puppet shows. Students enjoyed creating their very own shadow puppets.
Grade 3 and 4 students have been focusing on improvisation this term. They’ve had the opportunity to step outside their comfort zones, thinking quickly and creatively in response to prompts and scenarios. Through games, exercises, and group work, they’ve developed important skills like spontaneity, confidence, and collaboration. Their performances were full of energy, wit, and surprise, showing just how much they’ve grown in this area.
The Grade 5 and 6 students wrapped up the year by diving into the world of filmmaking. This unit allowed them to explore the entire process of creating a short film, from scriptwriting and directing to acting and editing. Working in groups, they developed their own concepts, bringing their stories to life through visual and audio elements. Their finished films showcased their creativity, teamwork, and technical skills.
As we close out the year, we want to express our thanks to all the families for their ongoing support of the Performing Arts program. We wish you all a relaxing and enjoyable holiday break, and we look forward to seeing you in 2025.
Happy holidays
