Term 3 Overview
As we conclude Term 4, it is with great pride that I reflect on the incredible journey of our Senior School students at Bemin Secondary College this year. Term 4 has been a culmination of hard work, dedication, and growth, as our students embraced every opportunity to prepare for their futures.
Throughout the term, students completed their final CATs for all subjects and demonstrated exemplary preparation skills as they tackled their end-of-year exams. These exams not only marked the completion of their current studies but also served as an important step forward as they transition into VCE and VM. It was inspiring to see our students approach these challenges with determination and maturity, building a strong foundation for their senior years.
A highlight of the term was the VCE & VM Step-Up Program, where students officially began their journey as Year 11's. This programme allowed them to experience the expectations and rigour of senior school life, setting the stage for success in 2024. In addition, students engaged in future-focused conversations with staff and leaders, exploring careers and pathways aligned with their interests and discussing life beyond high school. These discussions were invaluable in helping students make informed decisions about their futures.
We wrapped up the year on a high note with a pizza day and the much-anticipated staff vs. students volleyball game. While the students once again claimed victory, it was a fantastic way to celebrate the end of the year and foster a sense of community and camaraderie among students and staff.
As we reflect on the achievements of Term 4, I want to thank our students, staff, and families for their dedication and support throughout the year. Together, we have built a culture that embodies our College values of Excellence, Respect, Innovation, and Community. I am excited to see what lies ahead for our Senior School students as they continue to strive for their best in 2025 and beyond.
Have a safe and enjoyable summer break!

The end of Semester 2 saw all Year 10 students participate in their final examinations. Covering all subjects studied across Terms 3 and 4, students had the opportunity to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have developed. The examination period also provided students with a taste of what they can expect as they move into VCE in 2025 and beyond.
Students performed to a high standard, and showed significant dedication to examinations, coming well prepared, with all necessary equipment, and arriving on time.
In addition to acknowledging student effort and learning growth, it is important to acknowledge the College’s dedicated teaching and education support staff, who together with families, have provided students with every opportunity to succeed and achieve their individual learning best.
The College is extremely proud of our foundation cohort, and the efforts they have put in not only academically, but in establishing a culture that future generations will be proud of.
The Senior School team looks forward to welcoming students back to the College in 2025 to continue their education.

Bemin Secondary College recently held its first Year 10 into Year 11 Step Up Week, where we worked on preparing our students for their upcoming transition into the Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE) Program for 2025. The week saw strong engagement from students as they completed various activities that were designed to help familiarise them with the expectations and requirements of the VCE Curriculum. Feedback from our staff highlighted that our students understood the value of this week, and discussions with students showed they are feeling more confident about their academic futures, showcasing a considerable amount of maturity and readiness for the challenges ahead.
The excitement surrounding the introduction of VCE at Bemin Secondary College is evident, with our students expressing their eagerness to start their new educational journey. Our College Staff Members were equally enthusiastic, working hard on developing lessons that would support the importance of this transition in shaping the pathways for our students. The collaborative atmosphere during our Step Up Week promoted a sense of community, which reinforced the College’s commitment to supporting the growth of our students.
As Bemin Secondary College prepares to welcome its first cohort of VCE students, the positive energy that was seen throughout the week serves as a strong foundation for academic success.

Students who enrolled in the Victorian Certificate of Education - Vocational Major (VCE-VM) had the opportunity to participate in their Literacy, Numeracy, Personal Development Skills (PDS) and Work Related Skills (WRS) classes for Step Up week 2024. During this time students were given introductory lessons for each of the subjects and the outcomes required to pass each of these classes.
Throughout the week students were given information about their Vocational Education and training (VET) along with the Structured Workplace Learning (SWL) program which are studied away from their normal schooling environment. VET and SWL allow students to undertake practical and theoretical skills based education developed around their desired choice of employment after they finish school. Both of these activities are combined with the school learning environment to allow students to be ready to enter the workforce in their chosen fields at the end of Year 12 with relevant workplace experience.
The VM students engaged in their learning showcasing College values with an enthusiastic approach and have gained the knowledge of what is required of them to be a part of the VCE-VM program. We look forward to having the students back on site to continue their learning as they progress towards life after school in their chosen work field.

Upon their return to the College for the 2025 academic year, it is vital that all Year 11 students arrive prepared and ready to learn. Classes will begin immediately, with teachers reviewing holiday coursework and then moving to new topics in the curriculum. With the first round of assessments commencing in early Term 1, students will notice a significant increase in standard of work, and the pace at which classes will move through various topics.
