Year 7 to Year 9
What an incredible start to the Middle School year! Our new Year Seven students have brought great energy, excitement and a strong dedication to learning as they settle into secondary school. Joining them on Wednesday were ten new Year Eight and three new Year Nine students, who quickly embraced their new environment. This first day proved invaluable, giving them the opportunity to build confidence and feel at home at Salvado Catholic College.
The first week was filled with activity and excitement, culminating in our Secondary Assembly, where we celebrated the recipients of the 2025 Academic Scholarships. These students were recognised for their outstanding academic achievements from the previous year.
A special highlight of the assembly was the contribution of Year Eleven students Krys Marie-Louise and Yazden Omid, who volunteered as MCs. They also delivered a heartfelt speech on "What it means to be an SCC student". Their words carried special meaning, as both had previously left the College for opportunities at other schools—only to return, appreciating they were now “lucky to be in a place with great teachers, an amazing environment, and the opportunity to truly thrive. Sometimes, we take these things for granted, but today is a reminder to appreciate what we have”. Their reflections reminded us all not to take our school community for granted.
Week Two has continued with enthusiasm and positivity among students and staff. On Thursday, we held the Year Seven Parent Information Night, which was well attended. The key message for parents was to support students as they adjust to new routines and responsibilities, helping them stay organised and confident in facing new challenges.
Next week promises to be just as eventful, with several key events on the calendar:
We encourage all parents and caregivers to keep an eye on the College Calendar and SEQTA – Engage Notices to stay informed about upcoming events.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and let’s continue to make this year a fantastic one for our students!
Regards,
Mr Brendan McGrath
