Sharing Shelves

Our English staff have created a space for students to share their books and other reading materials.

Read what our students think of this new space:

There is no obligation to return within a timeframe which is great for busy students, but it would be even better if next year students contributed to the shelves. Hopefully it can grow even more next year.

I have been using the sharing shelves, I think it is quite great. Whenever I forget my book the sharing shelves always give me something new and fun to read. It’s a great way to explore new genres and authors.

The recent addition of the sharing shelves is wonderful to see, as it not only harbours a sense of connection, but spreads the joy of reading among the Nossal Community. I'm grateful that we, as a school encourage such wholesome and friendly interactions among each other, and hope that this new tradition continues.

The introduction of the sharing shelves this year has been a fantastic initiative by the English department, providing us with a communal way to exchange books. Thanks to the wide range of books available, I have explored new genres and authors which I otherwise would not have tried. The recommendations are an added bonus too - we can see what other people have read and enjoyed and enjoy them too!

After a busy lunchtime of playing on the courts or purchasing items from the canteen, the thought of bringing a book to class can easily slip our mind. No need to worry, the sharing shelves are always willing to lend us a quick read. As a school community it is essential to spread our love for books with each other. What better way to do this than the wonderful sharing shelves that are home to an infinite number of stories. Guided reading may only last ten minutes, but the stories on these shelves will stick for a lifetime!
