Principal's Page

Welcome back to another exciting school year at Great Ryrie and the first edition of the Great Ryrie Grapevine.

We hope you had a restful and enjoyable break filled with family time and lazy days.

As we begin this new year, we extend a warm welcome not only to our returning families but also to the new families joining us, along with our Prep families starting this week.

Our dedicated staff started the year with boundless enthusiasm! They took part in a First Aid course to ensure everyone is up to date on emergency procedures, and they've been hard at work setting up classrooms and planning curriculum to create the best learning environment for your children.

But wait, there's more! Over the break, our school underwent some fantastic changes. Each week I will highlight the new facilities with a photo shoot.

New Classrooms

We're thrilled to announce the opening our two brand-new classrooms.

These state-of-the-art spaces feature new carpet, air conditioning, soundproofing, blinds, and shiny new furniture including  all the latest technology. Plus, they're surrounded by new garden beds, concrete pathways and equipped with a sleek accessible ramp. Our students are already loving the fresh, inspiring atmosphere these classrooms provide.

Congratulations Preps

And let's not forget our adorable Preps who started their first full week with shiny shoes, backpacks, and oversized uniforms (which they'll surely grow into in no time). Don't worry, there were only a few tears, and they were shed by the parents! Rest assured; we'll take extra care of our little ones as they embark on their exciting new journey in learning.

As we gear up for another fantastic year, we want to express our gratitude for your continued support.

Warm regards,

Karen Rouda

Principal

Anaphylaxis

We have many students at GRPS who require the availability of an epi-pen due to the risk of anaphylaxis, a serious and potentially life-threatening allergic reaction. Among these students, there are allergies to nuts which are particularly severe, necessitating the immediate availability of an epi-pen in case of an allergic reaction.

While it is not the policy of the Department of Education to implement a blanket ban on specific foods, we do take the safety of our students very seriously. To minimize the risk of an allergic reaction occurring in the classroom, we kindly request your cooperation in refraining from packing "nut products" in your child's lunchbox.

Your understanding and cooperation in this matter are greatly appreciated. By working together, we can create a safer environment for all our students.
