The Second Week of Advent is the week of Peace. This verse tells us that Jesus came to be the Prince of Peace. The word peace is the Hebrew word shalom, which means 'completeness' or well-being. Jesus did not come just to end wars, but to make us complete by saving us from our sins.

Celebrating Advent

Advent cards on display at my home.

I hope you're enjoying your Advent packs at home. I have had parents give me wonderful feedback. Together with the students we have been talking about the different activities asked of us during this special time of Advent. During this time my own family (Aodhan 25, Sarah 22 and Ryan 18) have enjoyed reflecting, using kind words towards each other, opening their hearts to forgiveness, and sharing a meal and a prayer together.

Today's card, the 14th day of Advent, is to ‘think of one thing you saw and one thing you did today, that would have pleased God.’ Share this with your family.

It would be wonderful if you would consider sharing photos of your displays with us by emailing

We hope that this Advent Kindness Prayer Calendar Kit will allow you to find a few minutes each day to take some time out together, so as a family, you prepare yourselves spiritually for Christmas. Taking time for reflection can be particularly valuable in what is often a very busy time of year.
