The Festival of Music
Every year we look forward to the Festival of Music and this year was no exception.
In a harmonious display of talent and teamwork, all boarders took centre stage at the annual Kambala Festival of Music night. With voices as melodious as songbirds, they captivated the audience with their heartfelt performances, ranging from timeless classics to contemporary hits. From delicate harmonies to powerful crescendos, our many vocalists showcased not only their musical prowess but also their dedication and passion to their houses.
Our talented Hayley Green (12) led Wentworth house, conducting their song Seasons of Love from Rent.
This was Hayley’s first time conducting and with only 15 x 30 min rehearsals in which to prepare her team her dedication is evident. Hayley says the experience “taught her a lot about leadership and resilience. That it was nice to make connections with those in other year groups and that the experience of being a conductor gave me the opportunity to expand my leadership skills and to develop my own skills as a musician to pass on my knowledge to other girls.”
Staff members Jo, Emily, Jess, Neva and our gaps Emma and Sophie attended the evening to cheer on our girls. Staff were overwhelmed with the incredible talents of Tivoli and Fernbank girls, everyone trying to guess who would be the winning house. It was an extremely proud moment seeing all their smiling faces up in lights on the Opera House stage.
It was especially nice to see lots of our ‘Year 13’ girls in attendance, so many alumnae ready to cheer on their little sisters.
Ascham and Kambala Social
Kambala hosted a friendly Friday activity after school with Ascham. We played games on the oval which the older girls from Fernbank planned and we had a BBQ afterwards.
The social event was worthwhile, and we spoke to a few girls from Ascham we hadn't met before. Most girls liked the event because it was active, and we could be outside.
Capture the Flag was competitive, and it was fun trying to find the other team's hidden flag and bring it back to base. I probably liked 44 Home the most. It's similar to Hide and Seek and some Year 7s wanted to keep playing because we could run around and be silly.
The sun was out, and it was good to see the Tivoli and Fernbank girls together. And the BBQ was delicious!
