Learn, Develop, & Grow

Dear Families,

What fun we had as we prepared for our autumn festival! We ground the wheat grains to make enough flour for our autumn festival bread to share with our families. Such good work! So much learning! And excitement when the children saw the grains turn into ‘good light flour’. ‘When the wheels go round it grinds the wheat!’  ‘Ooh, we’ll have to make a lot for our families!’

We churned the cream to make butter to go with the festival bread. The wonder, when after turning and turning and turning the handle, the changes come…. cream turns to thickened cream and then the separation process begins; the buttermilk separates and leaving only the butter.

How satisfying it is once we have rinsed out the residue of buttermilk in icy water, to have our lovely pat of yellow butter!

In morning circle, we sang about the adventures of a ‘Little Round Bun’ and our stories and songs celebrated the processes of sowing seeds, harvesting and the gift of good food.

All of this was preparation for our autumn festival.  The weeks leading up to our Cassia festivals are as important as the actual day and help build a wonderful sense of anticipation.

It has been a wonderful first term. The children have settled in so well and now know the daily Cassia rhythm, what to do and how to do it. Daily rhythm and repetition help build confidence and security within the children. This then enables them to be in an optimum place to learn, develop and grow.

Thank you, dear parents, for all you have done to support your child settling into Cassia this term.

Have a happy holiday. We look forward to seeing everyone next term. Cassia for Term 2 begins on Tuesday, 16th April.

Blessings,

M’Lis and Felicia
