Stories in our Billy Button class are highly valued. Told with carefully crafted words and using beautiful engaging puppets we bring a sense of joy and excitement to the child. As well as being enjoyed, these stories bring rich language to the children, enhance their memory capacity and encourage development of their imaginations.
In order to meet the children’s developmental needs we share stories which reflect what the child might be experiencing in that moment of their lives. For our 3-year-olds the stories this term have been about transitioning away from families to school or discovering their own capabilities and independence.
Most recently the children have been listening to a story of the Yeperenye, who hatches from its egg after the big desert rains, eats through some fresh green leaves, burrows into the warm moist ground and then transforms into a hawk moth. This story beautifully reflects our local environment and the recent weather in Alice Springs.
