Team effort

Werte Class 7 Families,

In wrapping up the first term of Middle School, I can confidently say how proud I am of this tight team of young people that make up Class 7. Taking advantage of our smaller numbers, we have embraced events around town. This week, as part of the Mparntwe Street Art Festival, we met with artists from Incite Arts at their exhibition and then went mural spotting. Seeing a mural in the making is impressive indeed.

Running a weekly canteen is no small feat. Class 7 students have streamlined the ordering process and kept accurate records of their takings, expenditure and subsequent profits. With a small team, the students have become very efficient in the kitchen as well as serving the meals. Cleaning up is a team effort, usually motivated by the promise of leftovers. Plans are now underway for next term’s cooler weather menu.

By the time this newsletter gets published, Class 7 will have presented and enjoyed their term-long project of an Arthurian Feast at the Round Table. This project entailed the students having to write and tell their own Quest, in costume, design and make their own Heraldic Banner, create their ceramic drinking vessel and collegially plan and prepare a feast appropriate to the Middle Ages theme. I am really looking forward to it and will include photos next time.

Enjoy the change of weather, and the weeklong break to routine,
