Mr Rodrigues

Prayer  for the start of our school term

Lord, as we prepare for the coming of a new term make us ready, attentive and available to hear you.

Thank You for the gift of being able to rise each day with the assurance that You walk through it with us.

Thank You for the gifts of creativity and uniqueness, and the energy to put them to good use.

Amen

Dear Families,

It has been a wonderful start to the term and the smiles on our children's faces we saw on Tuesday remind us that school is definitely a place they want to be. It was a pleasure to see them all reconnecting with each other and their teachers. Of course there are also those children who may struggle upon returning to school, those that miss the slower pace of holidays and of course the connection with family members. For these children it may take a little more time for them to find their place again in what can be a busy and more demanding space. Please always feel free to contact your child's teacher or myself if you have any concerns regarding your own child's well being.

Our teachers have been working hard to ensure the curriculum is planned and learning activities organised to ensure each of our children continue to grow in the own learning. I have linked below all the Learning Overviews for this term and I encourage you to read through these as this will give you a good insight into what is being taught  This term of course we will be working towards presenting individual student reports and teachers will be assessing student work throughout the term. We will once again be meeting with parents to discuss the report and to enable children to share some of their learning with parents.

Parents & Friends

On Wednesday morning we had a great gathering of some very keen parents who are happy to be involved in our Parents and Friends group this year and I would like to say a very big thank you to each of them for their willingness and enthusiasm. As you know, Jenny who has led this group for many years now, has decided to step down but not before her amazing effort last term in organising and leading our very successful 100 Year Celebration. Over $5000 was raised on the day after expenses and this money will be put towards resources and equipment for our children. As was communicated, the fundraising aspect of this year's celebration was not necessarily our number one intention so to have raised this much money was a fantastic effort. Building our school's reputation and presence in our wider community  was a major goal and I believe in this area we were extremely profitable. On the day we toured over 12 families all of whom were extremely impressed with what they heard and saw. Most importantly they all got a true feeling for what it is like to be a part of our school community.  I have already had a number of them returning for a more formal tour and to collect enrolment forms. In case you missed it in last term's final newsletter I have included again below, our slideshow of the 100 year celebration, thanks for the photos Issey.

Staff Update

Welcome this term to Ms Frankie our new LSO who will be working across the school assisting teachers and students. Frankie is also going to be supervising our children who, this term, will be taking part in the After School Learning Club each Thursday.  We will have more information regarding this coming home soon.  We also welcome Ms Shannen Kearney on Monday who will be filling in for Ms Maryanne this term while she is on extended leave.

ANZAC Day & School Closure Day

Next Thursday 25th of April is ANZAC Day and a public holiday for all of us. On Friday 26th April we will be having our second school closure day. At this stage EXTEND only have two bookings and will therefore not be able to offer the day care service on this occasion.

BOITE Choir

For those of you who remember, last year Bernadette led a group of our students, many already members of Trinity Voices, to participate in the BOITE Schools Chorus. This was an extraordinary experience for these children and we are lucky to once again be able to participate in the program. We have included a special page in our newsletter  HERE  to keep you all up to date with this year's program.
