Last Thursday we celebrated Harmony Day beginning with a special Harmony Day/ Commitment Mass at St Mary’s Church. We were once again reminded of how blessed we are having Fr Michael as our faith leader, and it was beautiful to see all of our children showing such great pride and enthusiasm during their commitment, presentation and taking on various roles within the mass, particularly with their readings and singing and activities back at school.
Last Sunday was Palm Sunday where we reflected on Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem. This begins the events of Holy Week, a time when many Christians around the world begin their most solemn holy days, marking one of the most important weeks in our Catholic liturgical calendar.
This Thursday is our last day of the term and in the Catholic world is Holy Thursday. This day is mostly celebrated with a mass, the Mass of the Lord's Supper, where the Washing of the Feet is performed. After Holy Thursday, Jesus is betrayed and begins his Passion, the Stations of the Cross, which ends on Good Friday, the day when Jesus was crucified and died on the cross. Easter Sunday is the most glorious and festive day as this is the day when God’s only Son rises from the dead, bringing new hope and new life for all.
During this final week of school we are also encouraged to make a donation to the Caritas Australia Project Compassion Appeal. Boxes for Project Compassion have been placed in each classroom and at the front office and will be collected Thursday afternoon.
May you be filled with Happiness and Hope this Easter
