Sacred Heart Athletics Years F-2

This Thursday 28th March, the children from Foundation – Year 2 will participate in the Sacred Heart Junior Athletics Carnival. This will take place at Sacred Heart between recess and lunch time (11:45am – 1:15pm). The students will be involved in a number of sporting activities e.g. High Jump, Egg and Spoon Race, Sprints etc. Parents/Grandparents etc. are welcome to watch their child/children/grandchildren participate. This sporting event falls on one of our “casual clothes days”, however,  we request the children in Years F-2 wear their sports uniform to insure appropriate clothing is worn for the activities planned.  Runners are VITAL. Students are reminded to apply sunscreen before arriving at school and PLEASE bring along a drink bottle and school hat.

Greater Western Tennis

Congratulations to Jemma Howat who was Runner-Up in the Greater Western Tennis Championships last Monday 25th March at Hollioake Park in Ballarat. Jemma will now compete in the State Tennis Primary Girls State Final in Glen Waverley. This is a fantastic achievement.

Greater Western Swimming Carnival

Congratulations to Raymond Wang, Alexis and Beau Perkins who competed in the Greater Western Region Swimming Championships last Friday in Horsham. All three students did very well in their heats. The report back from students was that the outside pool that the championships were held in ‘was very cold’.

Golf Coaching Lessons

Yesterday, many of our Year 5 and 6 students had the opportunity to have another golf lesson with golf pro Michael Bainbridge. Michael is very experienced in the game of golf and was able to teach the students many golfing skills. We thank Michael for coming to our school to share his expertise in the game of golf.

Michael explained to the students that they can now have access to a ‘free’ membership at the Colac Golf Club for the rest of 2024. They also have the chance to grab a bucket of golf balls from the Golf Shop to practise on the driving range. Michael works at the Golf Shop and is happy to answer any questions that parents may have.

This would be a great activity for students over the school holidays!

Interschool State Show Jumping Championships

We wish Lotus Rothery all the best, when she competes at the Interschool State Show Jumping Championships from the 6th-10th April. Lotus will be riding her pony Roland at this event. Good luck Lotus!

Trinity Visit

A big thank you to Peter Harrington and the Trinity ‘sport and rec’ students who after just completing their Tennis Coaching course, were able to put their skills into action with some of our junior students. Great fun was had by all.
