Principal Reflection

Term 1 has been extremely busy for the staff and students at Wollert Secondary College.

We welcomed not only our newest cohort of students, but we also welcomed several new staff.

It has been wonderful to see the grounds filled with such positive energy as students moved from class to class and extra-curricular activity to extra-curricular activity.

If it wasn’t our Whole School Athletics Carnival, it was Year 7 Camp, Inter-School Sports, Harmony Day, NAPLAN and the development of the Student Voice Team, just to name a few.

Uniform

Thank you to the students who continue to wear our College Uniform with pride. We are immensely proud of the minimal number of uniform concerns we face here at the College.

Just a reminder to students and families that:

  • Socks must be plain white.
  • Footwear when students are wearing the Active Uniform must be, neutral-coloured trainers, not sneakers or skater shoes.
  • Undergarments/additional attire must be the College colours.
  • School bags must be Wollert Secondary College.
  • As the cooler weather sets in, students are invited to purchase the College Puffer Jacket.

Mobile Phones

Whilst mobile phones play a very large role in the world we live in, and most students carry one, it is important that students are reminded that mobile phones are not permitted to be used whilst at school.

Phones must be off and secured at all times.

As the term concludes I would like to congratulate the staff and students on a wonderful term of learning.

I am beyond proud of our students who continuously demonstrate grit and determination as they approach not only their studies but also the extra-curricular opportunities provided by the College.

It is a pleasure each Friday to lead parent tours and showcase the wonderful learning environment we have established here at Wollert Secondary.

One that is calm and balanced, where students feel safe and valued.

I am proud to hear students share their thoughts of the College with our prospective students and their families and the recurring theme is always that students feel safe.

The acknowledgement of our College values Be Kind, Be Brave, Be True and Be Safe are often a focus point for tours where students are able to articulate what our values mean to them and why they are so important.

We remind students often, if you can be anything, be kind. It costs nothing to be kind, and I am so proud to not only hear students acknowledge this but also demonstrate it, in the ways in which they treat staff and one another.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish our students and families a safe and happy term break.

Remember to rest, recharge and fill those buckets with the things that you love most.

I look forward to seeing you all in Term 3, upon my return.

Regards,

Melissa Lozanovski

College Principal
