Year 6 Camp
13th - 15th of March
On the 13th of march we boarded the bus ready for our 1 hour 30 min drive and we arrived at Campaspe Downs. We arrived just in time to eat our lunch. Finishing our lunch, we started our first two activities. Ours were Giant Swing, which was fun, and Bushcraft, which needed a lot of teamwork between the group. It was a great start for our camp days. After a busy afternoon we got sorted and settled into into our cabins. On the second day (14th of march) we woke up ready and ate pancakes for breakfast. After finishing breakfast we went off to our activity groups for our first two activities. Our were Orienteering and Centipede. Lunch was decent as we got wraps. The afternoon activities were great as they were Archery and Canoeing. After another fantastic day we got settled into our cabins once again. Being woken up early in the morning at seven we packed our bags and put them along the wall in front of our cabins. Once we had breakfast the cabins were no longer ours. But the last two activities were amazing, which were Rock Climbing and Laser Tag! We collected our bags and boarded the bus as we were now ready to go back to school, after a while we arrived back at school and got picked up by our parents. One of the best memories we had at camp was having fun together as a year level for our last year at Good Shepherd by playing Capture the Flag and Splash.

On the 13th of March 2024 the year 6 students from Good Shepherd went to Camp Campaspe Downs. Our activities were bushcraft, the giant swing, archery, canoeing, centipede, laser tag, orienteering, splash and capture the flag. My favourite was capture the flag because people were screaming, laughing and crying. It was so hilarious. The food there was delicious, the space we were given to do activities were very large, the cabins were clean and our instructors were really nice to us. This whole trip went by very fast and when we had to go nobody wanted to leave.

Camp was incredibly fun and exciting. Everything was filled with fun. On the first day we went on the Giant Swing which took us 15 metres in the air and then dropped us. It made my stomach lurch but it was incredibly fun and exciting. Then we did Bushcraft where we had to build a shelter out of sticks and then it had to survive a rain test and a wind test. It taught me about the value of teamwork. On the second day we did a lot of exciting activities, the first being the Centipede, a 20 metre tall rope with obstacles, then we did Orienteering where we had to follow a map to find different things. After Lunch we did Archery where Riva got a bullseye first try and also where Evan hit the target every time! Our last activity for the day was Canoeing where we paddled around a lake. On the last day we did Rock climbing where we climbed up a very high rock wall. Our final activity was Laser Tag, where we played four different games. It was super fun and my team won 3 times! I was sad to leave camp but it taught me many useful things that I will take with me for the rest of my life.
