Year 5 Camp
6th - 8th of March
After camp, all I could think about was “I believe I can fly.” That thought started on the 6th of March 2024 when we traveled to Camp Rumbug. At the campsite, we were split up into groups and cabins. Once we were all sorted out, we started our activities. In my group, I had all my friends, and we all did the Mud Run and Raft building. During the Mud Run, we all got soaked in mud, even the teachers. The lucky part was that we had the raft-building activity, after. Sneakily, the PGL instructor told us to stand up on the raft and hold hands with each other. We then all wobbled and fell into the creek. All the mud washed off. The next day our group did the team challenge activity first. We had to balance standing on logs in mini-groups, and we all did exceptionally well. After that, we walked to Flying Fox. In the middle of the flying fox in the air, I was singing, "I believe I can fly.” The flying fox was my favorite, it was so much fun. Then at night we sat around the campfire, there were no toasted marshmallows, sadly. The third activity for the day was the leap of faith. That was utterly scary because you had to jump off a 15-meter platform. It was thrilling. After we had jumped it felt like we were birds gliding down to the ground. The view was very nice. The last day fell on the 8th of March 2024 on the day we did team initiatives and Archery. Our Group’s initiative was riddles and games, it was a brain twister. In archery, a girl in my group got a bull's eye, I was happy for her. The rest of us had good aim too. After that, we headed back to school. I had an amazing time at camp, all my friends and I had so much fun together. The teachers and PGL helpers were so kind to me. I have made so many amazing memories.

Where do we start about the best camp ever!? On Wednesday, the 6th to Friday the 8th of March, the Grade 5’s went to the best camp ever, PGL Camp Rumbug! Everyone loved it and the food was such a highlight. But how could we forget the fun activities and that breathtaking view of the hills from the flying fox. Next up was the Leap of Faith. Many people found it scary but a lot of them found the courage to jump off the high platform. Archery was another crowd pleasure. We loved watching the arrow fly through the air and hit a bullseye. The feeling of the bow gave us the confidence to aim and fire! The most fun began when we got revenge on our classmates and teachers by throwing mud at them and making them look like Sherk. What better way to finish the day than hanging around the campfire vibing to the rhyme of the beat and telling stories.

Camp! It was the best! The most amazing experience! There were a thousand activities such as Leap of Faith, Flying Fox, Archery and more. There would be nothing more better than 3 days with your besties all alone having fun. Well, that is what happened on Camp! We got to play loads of fun games like Passport to the World! And oh, the food! Most of us loved the rice and curry! Then for dessert the second night we had the best apple crumble and custard in the world! Even though the bus ride was long, I can’t wait for another year to come for some more fun!
