Grade 5 & 6

Term 2, Week 2

We hope that you all had a restful break and stayed safe.

Our Curriculum This Term

In our Reader’s and Writer’s Workshops this term we will centre around narrative and persuasive writing pieces with some fabulous mentor texts ‘The Little Refugee’ by Anh Do to complement our Inquiry project about Migration.

In mathematics, we will continue to work on our number fact fluency weekly to ensure our knowledge of times tables, decimals and powers of 10 is quick and ready to access in our minds when we need it. We have also begun learning about different number properties including; prime, composite, factors and multiples.

In our Inquiry unit starting Week 4 we will be learning about the history of Migration through artefacts. Focusing on who were the people who came to Australia? why did they come?. How has Australia been shaped by immigration? And why are immigration stories important?.

What we have to look forward to this term

In the next two weeks we have Living and Growing and Year 6 Swimming.

Reminders

All students require an art smock (or old shirt) for our weekly Art specialist lessons, as well as a library bag to borrow books each week from our fabulous school library.
